What we do
My name is Moira Malama Mututubanya. I am the executive director and founder of Alemod Mututubanya Foundation.
Alemod Mututubanya Foundation is a non-profit organization which was registered in 2016. After a year, a community school was opened in the outskirts of Kitwe city. (My City)
The school accommodated about 200 children between the ages 5 and 16. The tuitions were conducted under a borrowed building since we didn’t have our own building. In February 2018, the building collapsed due to heavy rains. Therefore, we couldn’t continue with the school since we didn’t have any shelter. We had to dispatch some children to government schools.
We got back to Kitwe where someone introduced us to AFLA (Association For Life of Africa) We went there and they explained what they do (saving lives of babies) and I became interested, we affiliated and became members. We started attending workshops and seminars for AFLA and I became equipped.
We did not have a premises to work from, so we asked for a little space for conducting pregnancy testing and counseling from a church, which they offered us, but still there was no privacy, because it was an open space. In August 2024, we were able to acquire a much larger space that you can see in the video.
This new building will allow us to offer our many services such as pregnancy testing, sti testing, counseling, our youth program, and our girl’s program where we talk onto them about issues such as dangers of SEX before marriage, prevention of abuse such as RAPE and DEFILEMENT. We also help them to discover their talents and have a number of girls who like knitting, rug making using yarn, and hair plaiting.
We also work in our community and have 5 elderly whom we want to start supporting with food stuff, groceries and clothing, and we support those who are physically challenged by sourcing (PET) – Person energy transportation.
Our Mission
Our MISSION is to serve mom’s and babies in our community through our pregnancy resource center, by offering pregnancy testing, STI testing, counseling and a youth program for advocacy. We also work to support elders who are vulnerable, with needs such as food and clothing.
Our VISION is to build a large building which will accommodate our staff offices, counseling sessions, youth meetings, a mother’s home and a senior’s home.
